It was a delightful afternoon at the Rocky River Senior Center on Tuesday, June 29th, being in the audience as Laura Varcho interpreted the songs of Harold Arlen. Her vocals were beautifully sung and nuanced and she had a wonderful range of emotion in her singing. But, not only did she sing his songs to perfection, she interspersed her singing with his biography, telling us tidbits like his given name, Chaim Arluck, which literally translated means Life Luck and he did have a lot of good luck in his life, being at the right place at the right time. It was very interesting to hear of his history and I was amazed at the number of hit songs he had written!

Even though Laura was onstage, she was able to create an intimate setting and it felt as if she was talking to a few friends as she went back and forth between sharing Arlen’s life and singing his songs in a way I am sure he would have loved them to be sung.

Thank you for letting us know about this wonderful singer. Please keep us posted on her future performances.

Laura Varcho is so lite and sublime, she renders the classics current and exciting . She appears to know the melody and the story in her soul. I just found out about her but want to hear more and share this experience which is romantic and fancy , upbeat and familiar. CW Hill Metal Artist
