Two lists! One option for those who prefer the short version and another for the long.

Much more accessible and not so bulky! I actually clicked on more links than usual because I didn’t have to wade through so much text. You got my curiosity up with just enough of the right stuff. Thanks!
Gwendolyn
I love Cool Cleveland! But I’m not the happiest with the new format. I read the site/e-blast for the list of weekly events – the rest is gravy. So while I’m happy that you’ve cut down on a few of the other “beats” that add length, I’m not so much loving the many clicks that are required to see what’s going on for the next week.
I would like to see once again, on one page, cool events listed out with a tag of explanation. I prefer this layout because I could scan the full diversity of offerings and surprise myself with something I might not have sought out on my own. Now I find I’m just judging by link title or skipping additional clicks and probably missing out as a result. Having to click through every link to see if it’s interesting isn’t helpful.

I prefer the multiple listings as part of the eblast. It was great to get a quick, easy view of a few things happening each day.

Actually, I preferred the old newsletter because it was all in the email. Having to click through to a separate website where I don’t know what awaits (how many more events, articles, will I like them?) is a bit frustrating – why even have the email blast then. The CC email blast went from a one stop shop to just another difficult to navigate option, like many communication options around town.
See the 3:32-4:00 mark of ‘Web Site Story’ – same problem w/ Evite!

Overload. Would love a more succinct newsletter with the plethora available on the site. Congrats on continuing your quest for Cool Cleveland and keep up the great work!
Sherry Carbeck
I prefer the longer e-blasts so I don’t have to keep clicking to get to more of the story. Thanks.

I wouldn’t mind a slightly shorter newsletter–except that it looks like my favorite part was cut out! I depend on CoolCleveland to let me know what’s happening on the weekend…loved that the newsletter listed it all out. Clicking on each day? Ugh.

Thomas,
• The digital photos and other graphics are great.
• It didn’t take long to find the link to Roldo. His research into local politics is fearless. And It was just as easy to find the other links I appreciate on Cool Cleveland.
• Thanks for the tip about Lago. My wife is a vegetarian and now we’ll have a new place to eat where we can be certain to find a variety of interesting items featured on the menu. Most restraunts offer to remove the meat from any meal but charge as though it remains. Also, a meat based dish isn’t necessarily suited to this treatment.

Yes, “I can hear you now.”
🙂
Your new format makes the newsletter easy to look through and easy to get back to things of interest for a further look-see..
Great Job!

When Cool Cleveland started, its primary purpose was as an event listing for all the cool things going on. That’s my primary use of it anyway. It is not helpful to have to click a link to see “more events on Thu 6/24.” I like seeing them right there in my inbox. Thanks for listening!
Laura Kendall
Looks great! Love the new design and always the content is wonderful. Would love to see the option of being able to auto add events to my outlook calendar. Check out eventbrite for examples–
Thanks!

I think the layout is much more user friendly. Thanks for re-working it.

I enjoy the simplified format. And the graphics continue to be appealing and crisp. My only recommendations would be to highlight events under the main event listed for a given day (like you have the Saturday listing this week). The way it appears now doesn’t always inspire me to click on every individual day and I think it limits the exposure / driver that CoolCleveland has served in the past.
Keep up the great work. We appreciate it.
Jerry Sgro
Shorter is better. I agree with Michele though, something should be done with the daily events so you have some idea of what they are before clicking on links.
Jonathan
I prefer to have more of the listings in the e-mail newsletter, though I like the more abbreviated listings.
For example, I would have liked to see the listings for today, June 23rd include the Happy Dog event, WOW, the Food for Thought Luncheon Series, and the note about Melt on “Man vs. Food” even if those were just quick links to more details on your site.
AK.Tarr
The ease, speed, layouts work well and yes the photo’s and graphics are great

I am always finding myself in need of quick access to local happenings. Thanks to CoolCleveland for keeping me informed and make my life easier!!! Your site just keeps getting better!
Linda
I preferred your former format. At times I have trouble returning to Cool Cleveland from some of the links.
David
I, too, am in favor of the previous format. What attracted me to CC in the first place was the ease of seeing numerous Cleveland happenings–almost all I would not have known about if it weren’t for this email.
Some don’t like to wade through all the text. For me, it was what I looked forward to most.
Matt Skitzki
I miss the old version!
I like having everything right there in the email. The new version is more like a list of cool links than a cool online magazine.
If there is too much information for you in the old format – just scroll past it until something catches your eye. It is too much of a hassle to browse through links in the new version and wait for new pages to load, even with a high speed connection.
However you decide to present it, thank you for finding the coolest stuff in Cleveland and sharing it with us! And thank you for inviting us to respond. You rock!
jo dorado
I liked the old email format slightly better although the new format is easy to read. No matter the format, I always read CoolCleveland’s email first when I check my inbox on Wednesdays 😉
Jason Kaczor
Still too much information. I want an event list that quickly tells me what is in the issue.
Michelle
I like the new format. Less bulk means I’m more likely to scroll through everything and follow up on the items in which I’m interested.
Thanks for all you do to promote the amazing people, places and events of Cleveland!
roni nainiger
i enjoyed the old format more. i loved all the information about cleveland and the surrounding burbs.
if an article doesnt interest me i just scroll to another. that article may be interesting to the next person. i liked the daily event pages much more. lets advertise and tout whatever cleveland has to offer. ive noticed i havent read the new format quite as much as the old. thanks for publishing coolcleveland in either style
jgm
Love the new format, but I also loved the old one. CoolCleveland.com continues to be easy to navigate–great links, visually appealing, and full of good stuff! Where else would I find out that Carolyn Hester is coming to Cleveland (loved her in Cambridge, MA in the early 60s). Way to go, Mulready!
Patt Cullitan
I like the old format better. I do not want to log onto a site I do not know. I just pass it by. By listing and giving a capsule listing of events, I can know which ones I am interested in and go for more info.
Jeremy Janszen
When it comes to e-newsletters, I like efficiency. For articles, it’s helpful to see a few sentences of what it’s about and then decide to click for more or not. For events, if it’s not on my screen, I probably won’t click “more events for Thursday” to see what else there is. Give me the best 5-7 per day and if I like them I can click for more info or click to see other, “lower priority” events (#’s 8+).
Thanks for asking.
Katie
I really like the WEBSITE, but to be honest, I preferred the older format for the email newsletter. It was cumbersome, but I didn’t have to click through too many times, and I appreciated that. The photography is great and gets me interested, even when a headline doesn’t. Either way – I’m pleased to know what’s cool in Cleveland!
Michele McBride
Visually it’s slightly easier to navigate, but it’s more difficult to scroll through events. As the mother of two cats, I need something that I can click, scroll and read with a wisp of my wand. We love Cool Cleveland!
Michele
Stu
I like your site but would like your blasts. I have signed up countless times on your site to recieve these blasts. What gives? Why won’t you send me them?
Lisa
Love the new format. It’s so much easier to read.
john mayar
Brevity is a virtue, but please don’t delete BizTech events.
Chris M
I vote for the older version. I am a strange person who enjoys sitting down at my computer and reading a well-written weekly e-letter without having to make hundreds of clicks to read articles. The time to ‘get through’ a Wednesday Weekly is now lengthened by extra work and a sore clicking thumb.
Melanie Seaman
I live in Mansfield but I look forward to reading the newsletter every Wed. I love to learn about what is happening in Cleveland and plan trips to visit on a regular basis. I prefer the old version but the new one works just fine, too. Thanks for all you do to promote the great events happening in and around Cleveland!
Shelly
Nice job on the redesign. I actually like the new e-mail format (even though it’s much longer than most others I recieve.) Having more information on it saves me from having to click several links to find if the information is something I’m interested in.
Carol Provan
I like it a lot better. I am not equally interested in every article and this lets me speed read to the things I am interested in/captivated by. The blasts are more 21st century tech than the old way.
Lisa
The colors in the redesign help make the newsletter and website much easier to read. I’m not a fan of having to scroll down pages of the website, however, to see all of the articles. All of the information contained in the newsletter and website are great resourses….thank you!
Crystal
I enjoy both formats but i think that the new one is easier. If an article is something i am interested in,i do not mind clicking to read more. Also great information and activities listed in each newsletter..Thanks!!
Brianna
As opposed to many of the responses here, I like both the new site and the new email. As much as I enjoy the email, I often don’t even open it, because I know it’s going to be a lot to wade through and most likely won’t have time; or, if I do open it, I scroll through very quickly. I kind of like that you’ve made it more concise, and I don’t mind that I have to click a link to see more of what’s going on for a particular day. I don’t live especially close to Cleveland anymore, so my time is not widely available to just hop on over to Tremont or Coventry or Downtown whenever I want. So if I know I have a free Friday evening or Sunday afternoon, I can target those days specifically. And I love the look of the new site, I think it’s more professional and more clean. And more importantly, thank you for all you do to prove that Cleveland is Cool and that the city and those who love it have so much to offer. THANK YOU!
Linda
I much preferred the original design. Many times I am unable to get back to Cool Cleveland after going to linked sites, and have to go back into my email to begin over again.
Lance
I am neutral on the new e-blast. Both versions work for me. I like the new website better than the 1.0 version. Easy navigation, easy user-friendly, calendar, etc.
Janet
Smaller is better but you have cut too much. A list of All daily events with links would be so much more effective.
Julie
I love the new streamlined format…thanks for keeping us Cool!
Cyd
I prefer the original design. I have trouble getting back to Cool Cleveland after clicking on a link. It is frustrating so I am less likely to click. I also loved having all the week’s events there for me to see.
Emilie Unkrich
“If it isn’t in the newsletter, it isn’t happening.”
Who said that Cleveland is boring!
Say what?
🙂
Andrew Ratcliff
I prefer the prior Cool Cleveland email design. I’ve found myself having to click more often to jump to the website get the full story. Especially frustrating when the full story has only a few more sentences. Doesn’t matter much to me if an email is long because it’s easy and fast to scroll down.
Charity
Like the newsletter, but don’t love it. Much preferred when majority of links were on newsletter, not under “click for more events on XX day.” Still, a great resource!
