New “redesign” biz opening in Akron

Akron locals Karen Starr and Jon Haidet are opening Hazel Tree Interiors, a shop specializing in eco-friendly interior design and redesign services, custom picture framing, unique home furnishings, and local art — all located in a 135-year-old building overlooking downtown Akron. The biz will be open on Sat 7/10 and will have an official grand opening bash on Sat 8/7 from 5 – 10PM.

So what’s the scoop?

Starr and Haidet want to provide Northeast Ohio artists and artisans with a place where they can exhibit and sell their work while also connecting with a creative and entrepreneurial community. “We see Hazel Tree as a place where people can make connections—to our local economy, to pieces from the past, to the earth, and to each other. We want it to be a place where our neighbors can find interesting and unique items for their homes or businesses and support great local companies, artists, and artisans at the same time,” Starr explained.

Hey, sounds cool to us.

– Hazel Tree Interiors will be located in the old Norka Futon building at 143 West Market St in the A-K. –
