About Joshua:

Joshua came in to this world on November 25, 1986, full of life and with a spirit of adventure. He was always well liked by his teachers and classmates. Joshua enjoyed many sports including basketball, baseball, soccer and football, but roller-skating and roller blades were his favorite.

Joshua’s (“Johnny’s”) path of service began in August of 2005 when he chose to join the Army, as he truly believed that we were safer in America because we had troops overseas. He joined the Army as a medical specialist to take care of the troops.

“Joshua was a unique and engaging kid, filled with love and joy. Joshua made friends with all; and everyone loved Josh. A rare individual that many people called their ‘best friend.’ An exceptional quality, honestly, I’ve never met anyone like him. Johnny, I will miss you. He was one of the best medics that I’ve had a chance to work with in my nine years of being a physician. He was not only wicked intelligent, he had a thirst and passion for medicine I don’t see often. Thank you for your passion for medicine, caring and compassion for your troops, your smile, and being a friend. My only regret is that I didn’t spend more time with you. I know you are in Heaven, in His glory. I will definitely see you again.”

Army Corporal Joshua Scott Harmon died along with thirteen fellow soldiers on August 22, 2007 in a Blackhawk helicopter crash while returning from a mission in Northern Iraq. Joshua, a caring young man, loved all people. He held a special spot in his heart for children, music, medicine and service.
