High-speed broadband infrastructure & 500 jobs coming to NEO

Nonprofit OneCommunity receives a grant to add nearly 1,000 miles of of fiber-optic cable to their high-speed broadband network, enlarging its range to 27 counties.

What does this mean?

The OneCommunity “middle-mile” fiber project will create a broadband superhighway for robust and affordable connectivity services through an open and provider-neutral network infrastructure. This means the high-speed network will be available for use by all of the region’s carriers, cable operators and private networks at reasonable rates and terms, allowing them to better serve business and residential customers. OneCommunity also will leverage this great regional asset to provide robust, affordable broadband services to public interest subscribers, called community anchor institutions.

The network will improve access to 21st century services for schools, hospitals, libraries and other.

And, oh yeah, the project will bring 500 jobs to the region.

Threshold @ Proximity gallery

Opening on Fri 8/27 @ 6 – 10PM

(On view through Fri 9/10)

Check out Proximity gallery’s 2nd show Threshold, opening on Fri 8/27. Threshold is an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Cle artists Aaron Koehn and Katherine Widen.

Details:

A threshold provides a clear division between interior and exterior spaces. When occupied, an audience is provided for both worlds simultaneously. They are both distinguished by their vast and confining, static and dynamic, organic and artificial characteristics. This exhibition opens a conversation between the world you are within and the world without you. Threshold juxtaposes the paintings and drawings of two artists working with abstraction from both the interior and exterior landscape. These paintings manage to be endlessly expansive while enveloping the viewer in textural detail.

Located in the LOFTWORKS Bldg — 1667 E. 40th St. Unit 1A
