Octavofest: Celebrating the Book & Paper Arts

Kicking off on Fri 10/1

The community is alive w/ book and paper innovators. Think a book is just a book? Think again. These artists transform the book into a work of art. Learn about these creative people @ Octavofest, a month-long celebration of book and paper arts. Visit local venues where printmakers create their magic, hear lectures, go on tours, and see demos.

The fest begins on Fri 10/1 with “Curator, Educator, Artist: The Book Arts Revealed,” an opening reception w/ a panel of experts discussing “aspects of the artistic and visual experience of Book Arts such as collecting and exhibiting, composition and craftsmanship, and creation and marketing of these unique works.”

Hey, kids! Octavofest has something for you, too. On Wed 10/6 @ 4:30PM, make a paper wagon at the Cuyahoga County Library – N. Olmsted branch.

Then, on Mon 10/18 @ 4:30PM, make your very own book w/ Children’s Librarian Connie Parker @ Cuy County Library – South Euclid-Lyndhurst branch.

If you see nothing else, go to the special collections gallery on the 4th floor of CPL Main for an exquisite look at the art rendered in book format.
