The Black River Belles are the first all-female bluegrass band in Oberlin! The Belles are a band of southern women who got their start jamming in living rooms to escape winter doldrums. The jam sessions evolved into a formal band — The Black River Belles — that plays a mix of old time/folk songs. Watch them perform @ the Vine and Bean Cafe on Sat 11/6.

What if the world was a place of love and justice and peace and music. Well, I imagine some grumpy people would still find something to complain about, but I know for certain that the Black River Belles would be HUGE. They’re already massively fantastic in our eyes and we invite you to take part in their sweet acoustic multi-instrumental, layered-vocal awesomeness while eating dessert and organic wine.
