Rock and Roll Night School: New Orleans Beats & Rhythms

Get schooled in rock and roll knowledge at the Rock Hall’s next Rock and Roll Night School event on Wed 10/27. Jump in on the 2nd of three events centered around the Rock Hall’s 15th Annual American Music Masters celebration. This event is free and open to the public.

The scoop:

Ned Sublette, author of The World That Made New Orleans: From Spanish Silver to Congo Square and The Year Before the Flood: A Story of New Orleans, is a critically acclaimed writer, historian, musician, and photographer.

In a multimedia presentation, he will discuss the roots of New Orleans music in the rhythms of West Africa and Cuba, as well as the role it plays in everyday life in New Orleans in such traditions as second-line parades and Mardi Gras Indians.
