About:

Carl Orff composed Carmina Burana in 1935-36, as a setting of 24 medieval poems covering a range of enduring topics, from the joy of spring’s arrival to the fickleness of wealth. Its premier was a great success, and it is regarded not only as Orff’s finest work, but also as one of the seminal compositions of the 20th century. Its famous opening and closing movement, “O Fortuna,” is ubiquitous, appearing everywhere from action movie soundtracks to hip hop.
