The Black Friday Free Market

Fri 11/26 @ 3 – 9PM

The antidote to Black Friday (aka Big Box Hell): A market where everything’s free. Yes, completely free. Bring stuff to give away, if ya like. No lines, no phony sales.

Here’s the scoop on the Really, Really Free Market:

Year after year corporations chum the waters of the collective consciousness in the weeks approaching Black Friday. The result is a veritable feeding frenzy. People are trampled, shot, and beaten to a bloody pulp all in the hopes that they can save a few dollars on a bunch of junk they or their family really don’t need. Killed for a Kenmore. Silly, ain’t it?

Let’s all face it, most of this junk sits in our house and rots about a …month after we buy it. Our desires remain unquenched and our pockets get a little emptier… but we repeat the whole thing next year!!! It’s nuts.

It’s all quite a goofy system we have set up, this endless cycle of consumption and waste. Well, if you’re sick of it like we are, then come to the Catholic Worker Storefront on Black Friday. Bring all that old junk you made the mistake of buying over the years and give it to someone who might need it. Hey, maybe you’ll even find some new junk to pollute your house with. Or maybe you’ll just find a little true happiness for once when you see the look on a kid’s face when he gets his Christmas gifts for FREE. You’ll feel like Santa, I promise.

We couldn’t have said that better ourselves.
