Can you believe Mozart penned his second opera when he was just 18? As young as he was, La Finta Giardiniera possesses a deep maturity rarely found in a teenager (or adult for that matter). His opera will be performed on Wed 2/23 @ Cleveland Institute of Music.
The scoop:
Loosely translated, the production is titled Garden Girl in Disguise. The famous composer penned his second comic opera at just 18 years old, and it has been called the first of his mature operas. It features a unique mixture of drama and comedy, with enchanting scenes of romance and passion, entwined with cases of mistaken identity.
“Our adaptation tightens the work and includes only the music that is Mozart’s very best. I think audiences will be amazed by the wonderful music he created when he was still just a teenager,” Bamberger said.
Sung in Italian, a translation will be projected so you won’t miss a word!
