Celebrate the vitality of literature at the Sunday Roast Reading Series held @ the Cafe at Arts Collinwood. The roast features three literary females performing their work out loud.

The scoop:

So it’s the middle of winter and the only e-mails in your inbox are submission rejections from even the smallest journals…or maybe that’s just me. In any case, let’s not let that bring us down. Let’s celebrate the vitality of literature with Mary Biddinger, Laura Bandy, and Megan Erwin!

Mary Biddinger is the author of three collections of poetry: Prairie Fever (Steel Toe Books, 2007), the chapbook Saint Monica (Black Lawrence …Press, 2011), and O Holy Insurgency (Black Lawrence Press, 2012). She is also editor, with John Gallaher and Nick Sturm, of The Monkey and the Wrench: Essays into Contemporary Poetics (U Akron Press, 2011). Her poems have appeared in numerous magazines, including Copper Nickel, Crazyhorse, Gulf Coast, The Iowa Review, and Ploughshares. In her bountiful spare time, she edits the Akron Series in Poetry and the independent poetry annual Barn Owl Review.

Laura Bandy is currently working on her doctorate at the University of Southern Mississippi in poetry, and she is looking forward to the experience of a Cleveland winter.

Megan M. Erwin is a fiction writer living in Cleveland Heights. She’ll happily graduate from the NEOMFA program in May.
