The Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival started in 1978 as a small event with one concert held in a church basement — and now the event has grown to be the largest festival of Carnatic music outside of India. How cool. This 11-day festival celebrates music and dance with 50+ performances, plus competitions and lecture-demonstrations. The fest also features competitions for children and youth in the fields of music, dance and kathakalakshepam (harikatha).
