Climbing PoeTree @ Oberlin

Thu 4/21 @ 7:30PM

Testimony: I (CoolCleveland‘s Sarah Valek) saw Climbing PoeTree perform at an alternative media conference a few years ago. I didn’t know what to expect. Spoken word? Poetry? Open mic type stuff? I wasn’t too excited.

But… I was blown away by their performance. Climbing PoeTree is Alixa + Naima, two Brooklyn-based artists who use art as a means for social change. Their performances are an amalgamation of visuals, politics, rap/spoken word, poetry and so much more. They’ll move you. And they’re performing @ Oberlin on Thu 4/21. See a full set presentation including multimedia excerpts from Hurricane Season.

Upset over the direction our country is heading? Alixa + Naima will re-inspire you with their beautiful poetry and hard-hitting rhymes.
