Drumplay & the memory of Daniel Thompson

Groove to new tunes. Remember a legendary local activist. And help give homeless people a voice.

But where you can you do all this? Local groove band Drumplay is releasing a new album, Infinity, and you’re invited to join them at one of many CD release parties. Not only will you hear awesome new music, you’ll pay homage to the late activist Daniel Thompson, former member of Drumplay, who would have turned 76 years old on Thu 4/21. Infinity features a track with Daniel Thompson recorded at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in 2003; but the bulk of the album is from an October 17th date at SUMA Recording Studio, engineered by Paul Hamann.

All proceeds from Drumplay CDs (past & present), posters and other merch go straight to the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless to keep the Cleveland Street Chronicle (the new name of the Homeless Grapevine) alive and kicking. The paper’s written and sold by homeless/formerly homeless individuals and advocates and Daniel Thompson was a frequent contributor. The paper gives a voice to the all-too-often voiceless. Donations will go toward publishing a new issue.

Be sure to catch a show:

Thu 4/21 @ 7PM:  Algebra Tea House – Little Italy in Cleveland (celebrating the release of the “Big Book of Daniel”). This is Daniel’s b-day so expect a party complete w/ cake.  Word has it that Ernie Krivda will be joining the bash.

Sat 4/23 @ 8PM: Sandy Chanty  – Geneva-on-the-Lake (CD “Infinity” Release Party)

Mon 4/30 @ 1PM: Perry Public Library – Perry (special program for children)
