The World Above Us: Innovative new play @ CSU

Tue 4/19 @ 8PM

The World Above Us is many things. It’s an innovative and exciting new work that’s part play, part opera, part musical and all Cleveland.

Info: “Set in Cleveland in the 1980s, the main story is of love, betrayal and tragedy; but the piece also traces the threads of those events back in time and forward to the present day. Throughout, the work explores the relationship between the often painful and confusing events of our daily existence and the hope of transcendence, and of a higher meaning.”

Says composer/writer Greg D’Alessio, “People have been asking me what this thing is –is it an opera, a musical, a song-cycle? Is the music pop or folk, rock or classical? Is it a story with music, pictures with words, a movie with live performance? I don’t have a good answer for them, it is maybe a new mix. One which makes use of the amazing talents of local artists as well as the endless possibilities of new technology.”

See it for yourself on Tue 4/19.
