New work at Legation, a gallery: Climbing through the Keyhole: new works by Oliver, opening on Fri 7/15/11. Oliver is a local emerging artist and designer who recently moved to Lakewood from Savannah, GA. On view through Sat 8/6.
Oliver says, “I process the stories of myth and fairy tales into meditative acts of detail that lend themselves to the eventual reversion back to memories of my childhood. These memories traverse the line between reality and surrealistic imagery. By mixing the repetition of line in with my interpretation of childhood fairy tales and dreams, I begin developing my creations. Hallways filled with mostly shut doors, animals that help direct my journey, and my Victorian home are all repetitive subjects in my dreams and also have significant meaning in my works…”
