Sweet Spot Opens in Lakewood Serving Gelato

Gelateria Sweet Spot Opens in Lakewood

Serving Gelato & Desserts

Brother and sister Zack and Celeste Blau (right and center), along with help from their parents (the banks aren’t lending money to entrepreneurs these days) are pitching in to open the first gelateria on Cleveland’s west side, across the street from The Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood.

The Sweet Spot at 17804-06 Detroit Avenue, will feature 32 flavors of gelato, commonly known as Italian ice cream, but closer to ice milk, with less butterfat to get between the flavors and your tongue. The Sweet Spot makes all their gelato fresh on premises by hand. They call it an American gelateria with a twist.

Also on the menu will be cookies, pies and cupcakes, prepared locally in Lakewood by bakers in the neighborhood. All ingredients are sourced locally. Even their chocolate is mixed onsite.

And speaking of flavors, the Sweet Spot is offering free samples of select tastes from 1-4PM on Sun 7/3 and Mon 7/4 in preparation for their official opening on Thu 7/7. On Sunday, they were sampling Coffee Oreo, Lemon Ginger, Peanut Butter, Strawberry, Vanilla & Chocolate.

The Sweet Spot expects to be open 7 days a week, until 10PM on most nights, with reduced hours in the winter. A selection of coffees is also anticipated for the winter months. In the meantime, coffee and such can be enjoyed directly across the street at the Beck Cafe.

Rosso Gelato in Rocky river has been open for at least a year, so I’d object to calling this the “first” west side gelateria. Very nice, passionate people.

    Ohhh my gosh!!!
    I love this Gelato.
It is so far superior to “old school” ice cream.
MORE flavor and LESS fat makes all the difference.
    and soooo many flavors………wow!!
