Fri 10/21 @ 5PM
Check out work from sculpture/installation artist Annie Stimson, whose latest exhibit “The Coast is Never Clear” opens @ legation on Fri 10/21.
The scoop: “Annie’s newest work speaks to the fear and uncertainty of our present state and unknown future. Ideas of ritual, alchemy, history, and science present themselves in works that delicately and beautifully hint at the trepidation the future may hold and perhaps what our role in it might be. Stimson uses materials such as laboratory equipment and neon tubing to refer to science and technology, present and future, both disastrous and beneficial. Ornate patterning of text references the past while phrases speak of an ominous future. On the verge of 2012, a year overwrought with prophesies about the end of the world, this exhibition is one artist’s take on what may be to come.”
