The results of the 2010 American Community Survey are in! And this generic-sounding (but actually very cool) survey shows that 0.8 percent of Clevelanders now use bicycles as their primary form of transportation — putting us way above the national average (0.53%) and higher than every city in Ohio except Dayton. And, consider this — cycling in Cleveland is up 280% over just one decade.
Bike Cleveland Board President Christopher Alvarado summed up the news saying, “This increase shows how minor investments in bike lanes and programs can nearly triple the number Clevelanders on bikes. Can you imagine what can happen if we actually integrated the needs of bicyclists and pedestrians in all of our decisions?”
We can only imagine…
