Launch Lorain: 3-day planning charrette for Lorain Ave.

Wed 11/9 – Fri 11/11

Come Launch Lorain. Ohio City Incorporated and Kent State University’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative are launching a community-driven planning process for re-thinking Ohio City’s main street, Lorain Ave. The community design charrette will focus on transportation, safety, retail development, housing, green space/recreation and  multi-modal connections.

“The Lorain Avenue charrette will launch the momentum of the Ohio City Market District West on to Lorain Avenue though projects such as revitalizing storefronts, activating public green space, engaging businesses and long standing institutions like Saint Ignatius High School,” said Councilman Joe Cimperman of Ward 3. “Lorain Avenue has always been Ohio City’s main street and through this initiative the Ohio City community has a chance to grow a thriving corridor.

Come and share your input. Take a look at the schedule:

Wed 11/9: Community Workshop: A public workshop conducted to discuss existing conditions, community priorities and ideas for enhancing and investing in the neighborhood.  Facilitated by the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative.

Fri 11/11: Final Public Meeting: Held to discuss the ideas and recommendations from the charrette. Facilitated by the CUDC. 5:30pm – 7pm at 3204 Lorain Avenue.

Also, there will be a pop-up shop at 3204 Lorain Ave. featuring family fun, improv comedy, a live band and art show, free yoga, a chili cook-off and more.

It’s funny at this meeting, there were 2 Councilmen and Ohio City Inc there. It was a great turnout.

Wanting to get ideas about making the area better for the community, they had the opportunity but didn’t bother to share that there is an organization, Emerlad Alliance, trying to put a homeless shelter on the corner of Fulton and Lorain.

You think with the large turnout they would of been interested in community feeback but didn’t.
