Six very different films – all spooky in some way — will chill you and everyone else coming to see them @ the CIA Cinematheque. The flicks start on Thu 10/27 with Take Shelter [pictured] at 8PM — a special advance screening featuring producer (and Cle native) Tyler Davidson in person.

Other movies shown include The Last Circus, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, The Virgin Spring, a rare shot-in-NEO horror film The Wednesday Children (Sat 10/29 @ 7PM), and Last House on the Left.

See art. Create art. That’s the premise of the City Artists at Work – A Weekend to immerse yourself in Art event running the weekend of Fri 10/28.

About: “City Artists At Work (CAAW), a collaboration of artists from the Quadrangle, Midtown Corridor, and St. Clair Superior art districts, is proud to announce our fourteenth anniversary. To celebrate, we’re offering you a chance to witness the work of some of Cleveland’s finest artists, and to create some memorable art of your own. Don’t miss your chance to spend a weekend truly immersing yourself in art.”

First, see art: Attend the Fine Art Exhibition on Fri 10/28 from 6:30PM – 10PM @ Convivium33 Gallery (1433 East 33rd Street) featuring an eclectic mix of artwork from 60+ artists.

Then, create art: Attend a variety of hands-in workshops on Sat 10/29 and Sun 10/30.

Phoenix Pumpkin Carving Party + Kids Candy Crawl on Lee

Since 2004 the Phoenix on Lee has graciously invited families to carve pumpkins in their coffee shop. Why carve pumpkins at home when you can do so amongst friends (and, parents, situated near caffeine). Pay $10 for a pumpkin donated by Bremec Garden Center (funds benefit Heights Arts) and access to all the tools you need. Then, costumed kids can score candy along Lee as part of the Kids Candy Crawl. Sweet.
