VIDEO: Susan Woldman Returns To Cleveland
Joins Elisa Vietri & Natasha Turovsky
Just a quick look at the names of the four women artists featured in the Art Effect show at the Beachwood Community Center will stop you in your tracks. Photographer Elisa Vietri, whose work you see every week in Cool Cleveland (see video here), and Natasha Turovsky, who has a concurrent exhibition now on Paul Sykes and Travel Art’s walls at the Beck Center (see video here), plus artist B. Skufca, and former Clevelander Susan Woldman Elfer, all together in one exhibition, with the opening scheduled for Thu 11/10 from 6-8PM. This exhibit is curated by Karen Katz Wyman, a Trustee of the Beachwood Arts Council.
Check out this Skype with Susan Woldman Elfer from her New York studio where she talks about her book, The Promise Effect that she wrote and illustrated with a page for each of the 31 days of the month. Sykes then took the illustrations, enlarged them and printed them on canvas and gave them back to Woldman, who applied acrylic, making each piece a unique work of art. She also talks about her days in France on a fellowship connected with the Cleveland Institute of Art, and the interesting 7-foot looming behind her.
