Lkwd shops offer specials through Sat 2/11
By Claudia Taller
There’s nothing silly about being artistic and creative and passionate about your work. Buy local and buy Lakewood from the women behind shopping local in Lakewood. They believe they should share their talents with the world, and they do so without fear. This sounds preachy, but sharing our gifts requires courage that many of us lack.
Carol Lynn Salon, Crafty Goodness, Goddess Blessed & Metro! On Madison are women-run businesses where you can buy local for Valentine’s Day. Shop between now and Sat 2/11, no purchase necessary, and you could win a gift basket of local items. All four participating stores are female-owned and feature local art, wine, household goods, salon products and crafts.
Buying local, even in small portions, can spur on our economy. The 3/50 Project states “for every $100 spent in locally owned independent stores, $68 returns to the community.” The 3/50 Project urges us to choose three businesses a month, spend $50 between them and watch what happens. Imagine what can happen if we support our local businesses—they provide the products consumers want, keep money and taxes in our community, offer unique one-of-a kind products, and leave less of a footprint on the world. Open your heart and mind to the local concept.
Stroll down Madison Ave for deals. Carol Lynn’s Salon Plus, at 15410 Madison, offers all the name-brand salon products — from OPI nail color to Biolage hair products — in addition to hair and spa services. Crafty Goodness at 15621 Madison serves up some local photography, paintings, jewelry and other craft items born of the desire to stave off boredom. Goddess Blessed has been blessed with Reiki Sessions, guided meditation, Tarot Card Readings and massage, and they bring it all to you at 15729 Madison. Metro! On Madison, at 15220 Madison, is a design studio that began as a home staging business and is now full of resale home accessories that permanently liven up homes.
Get your passport from Crafty Goodness and visit all four locations. Get to know Lakewood at its best. Shop for the good deals between now and Sat 2/11 along Madison Avenue in Lakewood.
