Japan’s ‘Battle Royale’ @ the Capitol

Tue 4/3 @ 7:15PM

The Cinematheque returns to the Capitol once again to present one of the most requested movies of the past 10 years — Japan’s Battle Royale — one of Quentin Tarantino’s fave films and one of the most controversial films of the decade, they say. Also, The Hunger Games may have totally ripped off this movie…

Synopsis: “Set in a futuristic Japan wracked by fiscal collapse, unemployment, and rampant juvenile crime, the film depicts the implementation of a new government law that picks a 9th grade school class at random, sends it to a remote island, and forces the students to participate in the ultimate game of survival: hunting and killing each other with an assortment of weapons until only one person is left standing.”

See what the fuss is all about. No one under 15 admitted. 17 and under with adult.
