Cleveland-based nonprofit Fast Track Cycling has signed a purchase contract and ground lease to bring a 166-meter steel and wood velodrome to Slavic Village. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tue 5/1 @ 2PM and the track is slated to open on Sat 6/16.
So, Cleveland will get its first taste of track cycling — a form of bicycle racing held on specially built banked velodromes, as featured in the Olympics. Fast Track Cycling will offer adult and youth programs; free coaching, free track time and free equipment rental for youth aged 18 and under; plus affordable memberships for adults.
The velodrome will be located just off I-77 and Broadway in Slavic Village.
