This “cutting-edge Kunsthalle” was commissioned from architect Farshid Moussavi, and is her first museum, and her first building in the United States.
Featuring a monumental staircase that offers access and viewing platforms on all four floors, your animated flying journey through the new MOCA culminates at the impressive and unencumbered top-floor Main Gallery.
The $27M structure will be clad with 1354 panels of black Rimex steel which reflect and respond to atmospheric conditions, and the overall space is 44% larger than MOCA’s previous venue in the old Sears department store space on Carnegie Avenue, which they shared with the Cleveland Play House, who recently departed for the PlayhouseSquare district.
