Near West Theatre’s production of Hairspray: The Broadway Musical will NOT be “sweet” or “bubble-gum flavored.” This production’s gonna have some meat — most notably, director Bob Navis Jr. hopes to infuse the musical with John Waters’ rebellious, critical, shock-art flavor.
This is a play of substance… put on by cast members from the surrounding city and suburbs.
And YES! The play will be presented in air-conditioning!
