John Baldwin invented a lathe to cut slabs of sandstone into grindstones, so the history of Baldwin-Wallace University is not new to entrepreneurship.

But with everyone from music students to liberal arts majors encouraged to think of themselves as business people and impresarios, the culture at this university has taken a huge leap forward, first with the Center for Innovation and Growth, and now with the kickoff of a new entrepreneurship program.

Blackstone LaunchPad’s founding director Mike Nock, who started his own successful investment newsletter at age 25, talks with Cool Cleveland about how economic development and student development are intertwined at B-W.

It’s so embedded that over 80% of the students in the LaunchPad program are non-business majors.
