VIDEOTOUR: Ritual Objects & Sacred Art at Maltz Museum

One of the hidden jewels at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage is the Temple-Tifereth Israel Gallery, a permanent collection that holds sacred books, ritual objects, scrolls and art objects from the Temple Museum of Religious Art, the 4th oldest museum of Judaica in the country. This gallery features 180 objects from 20 countries.

Follow along as Jill Rembrandt, Director of Education and Programming at the Maltz takes us through this fascinating gallery, which is accessible to anyone visiting the museum. Watch the videotour here.

This collection was started about 50 years ago to honor the 100th anniversary of the original congregation Temple-Tifereth Israel. See the Torah scroll from 1892 in Iraq, paintings of the Exodus by modern artist Marc Chagall, Torah art curtains, and other objects recovered after the Holocaust. The gallery is divided into sacred spaces, sacred objects and sacred occasions. Check out the amazing collection of Menorahs from The Ukraine, Morocco, Italy, Germany and all over the world.
