On October 11, 1492, Cristoforo Colon landed on San Salvador and encountered its aboriginal inhabitants, the soon-to-be-extirpated Taino. He and his crew posed a series of questions that have been asked ever since. Who are these people? Where did they come from? How did they get here? When did they arrive?
Dr. James Adovasio — Provost, Senior Counselor to the President, Dean of The Zurn School of Natural Sciences & Mathematics, Director of the Mercyhurst Archaeological Institute — will discuss current answers to Columbus’ questions and present a very different portrayal of the New World occupation. Should be interesting. Part of the Explorer Series @ CMNH.
