When Akron’s Maid Myriad pulls into the Grog Shop tonight, it will have many miles under its belt. In the last month, it’s taken its music, which it calls “Kaleidoscope Rock,” from Boston to Birmingham (Alabama) to Chicago and many spots in between.
Cryptic description aside, what it actually plays is acrobatic, often frenetic, prog-pop that owes a lot to the godfathers of the style, Primus, for whom it has, unsurprisingly, opened. It’s released a couple of EPs and has a full-length album in the works. Akron’s Stiletto! and the 40’s open the show tonight. Admission is $5. They’ll also play at the Stone Tavern in Kent Sat 3/2.
