Charlie Mosbrook has been part of the local singer-songwriter scene since he was in his teens, which makes 25 years for the 44-year-old performer. He quickly built a stellar reputation as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, open mic host, and contributor to other artists’ projects. A spinal chord injury in 2009 curtailed some of his athletic activities but not his musical creativity.
A 2011 CD, Coverage: The Songs of Charlie Mosbrook, featuring a cast of top area musicians was a tribute to the respect his work has earned among his peers. Some of those musicians, including Avin Baird, Matt Harmon and XeLa, show up on his new CD Something to Believe. It was funded by a Kickstarter campaign that exceeded its $1,500 goal by over $1,000, demonstrating the respect he’s earned and the appeal of his modest yet exquisite songs. He’ll debut the CD at the Barking Spider Tavern. There’s no cover, but it’s good to put something in when they pass the hat.
