Opening Fri 3/8 @ 5:30pm
Two new exhibitions opening @ The Sculpture Center this weekend. Up in the Main Gallery Rondle West presents MozART; in the Euclid Avenue Gallery is Sarah Hahn: Of Gods and Demigods, Relics and Souvenirs. Two exhibitions in one spot.
MozART: “In this new series of assemblages, which for the first time includes video, Rondle West breaks down the walls of opera and gives the viewer a fresh entry into this highly refined world.” [Pictured: Rondle West, It’s a Man’s World, 2010, 45 in. x 46 in., Image: courtesy of the artist.]
Of Gods and Demigods, Relics and Souvenirs: “Sarah Hahn appropriates iconic classical sculptures from Antiquity and the Renaissance and replaces each god, hero, and saint with a contemporary celebrity. Her use of ceramic replaces the traditional marble and Cupid is substituted by the pop singer Justin Bieber.”
The opening runs from 5:30 – 8pm.
