Many of the best artists who play that distinctive, lively, accordion-driven Louisiana musical style known as zydeco never tour because they’ve got day jobs. A handful serve as ambassadors to the rest of the world — including Terrance Simien, whose annual appearance every July at the Cain Park Arts Festival is eagerly awaited by many Clevelanders. Experienced in translating regional culture to audiences who aren’t quite sure what a “bayou” is, Simien is the perfect artist to introduce it to kids. He’ll be doing that today when he presents Creole for Kidz & the History of Zydeco at PlayhouseSquare’s Ohio Theatre. Tickets are $10-$14.
