If you want to draw a crowd to a classical concert, Bach is always a good bet.
Last year, Apollo’s Fire, Cleveland’s Baroque Orchestra, offered a program it called Intimate Bach. It proved popular so this year the group is has put together Intimate Bach Part II.
The new program will feature the same four soloists: Apollo’s Fire music director Jeannette Sorrell on harpsichord, violinist Olivier Brault, flutist Kathie Stewart and cellist Rene Schiffer. This year they’ll play the Chaconne for violin, the Suite in D minor for solo cello, the Flute Sonata in E minor, and — since a trademark of Apollo’s Fire is providing broader context for the music it — some music by Bach’s contemporary (and friend) Telemann.
Apollo’s Fire will perform the program at Fairlawn Church in Akron Thursday, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights Friday and Saturday and rocky River Presbyterian Church Sunday. Tickets are $10-$68. Go here to purchase.
