Cellar Door Rendezvous

Filmstrip

Fri 3/8 + Sat 3/9

Cellar Door Productions moves into the Beachland this weekend with Cellar Door Rendezvous, a gala showcase of some of the best local bands. Saturday night’s the big ten-band extravaganza in both the Ballroom and Tavern.

Friday: Friday in the Tavern you can get a little taste, with two fairly established bands — the hard-driving but melodic Ohio Sky, who’ve become a local college radio favorite over the years, and straightforward indie rock trio Filmstrip —and two relative newcomers, the rockin’ Ragers, formed from the ashes of dance-rock quartet This Is a Shakedown!,  and So Long, Albatross, whose sound harks back to early ’80s new wave. Admission is $6. 8pm.

Saturday: Those who want to get a crash course in some — but far from all! — of the best local music will want to be at Cellar Door Rendezvous Day 2 at the Beachland. Both the Ballroom and Tavern stages will host the ten bands playing; the $12 admission lets you go back and forth and try to sample them all. The lineup features Attack Cat, Bethesda, the Commonwealth, Goodmorning Valentine, Herzog, Humble Home, the Modern Electric, NIGHTS, Sun Spots, and The Universe Doesn’t Stand a Chance Against Joshua Jesty. Cellar Door’s new compilation Cellar Door Volume IV will be available at the show. 8pm.
