Cleveland Singer-Songwriter Back From NY to Play

Fri 4/5 @ 8:30PM

Clarence Bucaro started to make his name in his native northeast Ohio, collecting laudatory reviews for his soulful singer-songwriter music, which earned him copious comparisons to Jackson Browne and Van Morrison.

After releasing his 2002 debut, Sweet Corn, he moved to New Orleans, following his producer Anders Osborn who is based there. Since then, he’s settled in Brooklyn, but his music has maintained a well-rooted Midwestern sensibility.

He’ll be releasing his sixth album, Dreaming From the Heart of New York, again produced by Osborn, just days after he plays at the Beachland Tavern. Tracks like the title track and “Curtis Mayfield” are sparse and confessional, with his acoustic guitar providing the main support for his open-hearted musings about how life has been for him lately. Songs like the soul workout “Let Me Let Go of You” and the very Jackson Browne-like midtempo rocker “Malibu” offer contrast.

Bucaro’s opening at the Beachland Tavern to Griffin House, a prolific singer-songwriter from Springfield, Ohio, who’s produced eight albums and two EPs since 2002, including the brand-new Balls.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $17 day of show.
