Monthly Open Mic at Barking Spider with Folk Scene Veteran Gary Hall

Tue 4/2 @ 8PM

Singer-songwriter Gary Hall has been a respected performer in the Cleveland music scene for 40 years. His talent was enthusiastically promoted by underground music legend Peter Laughner (a fellow Bay Village High grad), who died in 1977 at age 24 before his own talent came to fruition.

But Hall just picks up his guitar and keeps on keeping on — and bringing attention to other deserving artists. He’s released several albums that contain some of his own compositions, but he’s best known as an interpreter of often-obscure tunes by other songwriters.

One of the things Hall keeps on doing is hosting the open mic at the Barking Spider of the first Tuesday of the month. You can get a preview of what he does here. It’s free as always at the Spider, where they pass a hat to pay the performers.
