Massillon-born Americana musician Patrick Sweany is pretty well known in these parts, having played around extensively, especially in the Akron/Kent area.
Sweany was initially a blues-based solo artist, and those roots are still audible in his music. But he’s branched out, absorbing ’50s rock, ’60s folk, soul, bluegrass, country, and more into his sound and frequently performing with a band. The six albums he’s released on the past twelve years (three of them produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys) cover the gamut too.
Now based in Nashville (as who isn’t these days?), Sweany’s become a veritable touring machine. He recently did official showcase at South by Southwest music conference in Austin. But he’s not neglecting his home base. The much-travelled musician will be ducking into Mahall’s on his way back from New England and before heading for Chicago the next night.
