Pop-influenced fadista Ana Moura at Art Museum

Thu 3/22 @ 7:30 PM

Fado, a melancholy form of balladry that developed in Portugal a couple of centuries ago, has found new practitioners in singers like 33-year-old Ana Moura, who updates the genre for contemporary ears. While purists might wince at her collaborations with the Rolling Stones, Herbie Hancock, and Prince, she’s introducing traditional music to new fans in a context they understand. And venues like the Cleveland Museum of Art are responsible for introducing new audiences to fadistas like Moura. She performs there at the Gartner Auditorium. Tickets are $36-$56.
