Monday nights with underground touring bands were a tradition at the Euclid Tavern back in the ’90s. For one Monday, anyway, San Francisco trio Tartufi is bringing that tradition back.
Tartufi formed in 2001 as a power pop trio. They’re still a trio from San Francisco, but after three albums of tight, tuneful songs, the group suddenly decided seven years ago to go in an entirely different direction. They crafted a looped, electronic-based sound that focuses on meandering, mutating soundscapes with Lynne Angel’s multilayered vocals throwing a billowing curtain over the band’s baseline sound.
Tartufi’s now got four albums out with its new sound; the latest, These Factory Days, came out last week. The group is now on its first full-scale national tour, so this is its first Northeast Ohio show. Cleveland duo Bafflegab opens.
