CWRU Radio Station WRUW Hosts Annual Radiothon

WRUW's annual free concert Studio-A-Rama on the Case campus

Mon 4/8-Sun 4/14

People complain about contemporary radio constantly, and with good reason.

But Cleveland is blessed with a vibrant college radio scene, there for the listening for those of you who actually want to hear interesting music, new and old, and not just whine.

WRUW 91.1 FM at Case Western Reserve has been on the air since the late ’60s, featuring a mixture of students and community members playing everything from noise metal to Broadway tunes. And this week, through Sunday, you can help keep it vibrant.

The station is nonprofit and partly listener-supported. So it hosts an annual radiothon to raise money. Unlike public television, it won’t be broadcasting a Yanni special. Most of the programmers will be pushing whatever it is they do, reminding listeners that if they want to keep hearing reggae — or electronic music, or blues, or bluegrass, or local bands live in the studio — they need your support.

The radiothon runs Sunday. You can pledge on the air during your favorite show, or go here.
