Jammin’ Starts Early At Nelson Ledges

BigeaR

Fri 4/19-21 @ 5PM

Hey — all you hippies who can’t wait to get started with your camping and outdoor hacky-sack playing and gyrating to jam bands and indulging in various campfire activities — it’s Nelson Ledges time!

Yes, Nelson Ledges Quarry Park out in Portage County is kicking off the summer season with its Early Bird festival. They can’t promise you nice weather — and you almost certainly won’t want to go swimming in the quarry unless you bring your wet suit — but they can promise you two days of Ohio-based jam-style bands and artists.

It kicks off at 5 pm Friday with Yellow Springs-based acoustic folk quartet Blue Moon Soup (who will also play a late-night set) and wraps up in the wee hours of Saturday night with Willie Mac, who bill themselves as ““northeast Ohio’s finest acoustic hippy band.”

Aliver Hall and Adams Ale also play Friday night. Saturday’s bill includes John Welton, Mucklebuck, Sultans of Bing, the JiMiller Band and BigeaR, which features three founding members of popular veteran Columbus jam group Ekoostik Hookah. So their 9-11 pm set should be a favorite with the crowd.

Tickets are $50 for the whole weekend; go here to purchase.
