All over Kent tonight, you can soak in warm-weather vibes and get in the mood for those summer parties at the Kent Reggae Meltdown.
More than a dozen venues around town will be featuring mostly reggae bands, plus a few other artists (Alex Bevan, the Colin John Band) whose music evokes lazy sunny days and good times with good friends.
Among the bands playing are Umojah Nation, Outlaws I & I, Ras Pablo & the True Culture Reggae Band, Gato’s Gullah Gumbo, The Ark Band, and Human Nature. There’s a complete schedule of artists and venues at the event’s website.
Most of the shows are free, with the exception of a big three-band show from 8pm-2am at the Kent Stage, where Carlos Jones & the P.L.U.S. Band, Tropidelic, and B-Side Dumps will hold forth. That show is $8 in advance, $10 day of show.
