Lakewood Native/Tony Award nominee Dee Hoty in RICH GIRL @ CPH

Fri 4/19 – Sun 5/19

Gotta love local talent. Dee Hoty, who plays Eve in Rich Girl at Cleveland Play House, is a Lakewood native who got her start at CPH and has since earned three Tony Award nominations for starring roles in Footloose, The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public, and The Will Rogers Follies. Now see her in Rich Girl, a clever new comedy about women and their relationships with men, mothers and money.

Synopsis: Eve, played by Dee Hoty, is a hugely successful financial guru, and controls every aspect of her surroundings —including the lives of her executive assistant Maggie, played by Liz Larsen, and her sheltered daughter Claudine (Crystal Finn). Eve supports a philanthropic foundation to fund worthy causes. Henry (Tony Roach) is a theatrical director who has applied to the foundation for a grant for his struggling company.

When Claudine and Henry meet, they immediately sense a connection. Eve suspects Henry is interested in Claudine only for her money while Claudine falls head over heels for Henry. Will Claudine give up her wealth to marry Henry? Will he sign the pre-nup Eve demands? Situated at the intersection of money, romance, and the fate of art in a CNBC world, Victoria Stewart’s play could not be more timely.
