Singer-Songwriter Kevin Gordon Plays Ohio City House Concert

Sat 4/13 @ 8PM

Kevin Gordon is another of those wonderfully gifted songwriters whose name you don’t know — but some very important performers do.

His own catalogue comprises only four albums in a nearly 20-year recording career. But his songs have been covered by soul legend Irma Thomas, Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, and a supergroup that included Keith Richards, Elvis Presley sideman Scotty Moore, and Levon Helm and Rick Danko of The Band.

Gordon’s raw soul, blues and country-tinged music and his detailed lyrical character and scene sketches are a confluence of his influences: a fortunate collision of his Louisiana upbringing, his early passion for punk rock, and his masters degree from the noted Iowa Writers Workshop. He writes the kind of timeless, substantial songs that stand up to full band treatment but don’t require it.

Although he tours heavily, Gordon has never performed in Cleveland — until now. He’ll be featured at Mechanic Street Concerts, a series of house-party concerts in Ohio City. Anyone can join this party by emailing mechanicstreetmusic@yahoo.com to reserve your place. They’ll send you details a few days before the concert.

There’s a $15 suggested donation, which goes entirely to the artist.
