La Strada on East 4th Street is primarily an Italian restaurant. Tango originated in Argentina.
But never mind. Mixing the two won’t give you indigestion.
Tango Callejero, a tango dance party, takes place at La Strada tonight, with the opportunity to watch the dancers as you enjoy your pasta or to get up on the floor and show off your own moves. And the promoters are suggesting that people might be dancing out in the street (“tango callejero” means “street tango”) if the weather’s nice — and since East 4th is closed to traffic, it’s the perfect place for that.
The emphasis will be on traditional tango, but they’ll play some nuevo and alternative tangos as well for the more adventurous dancers.
There’s no cover, so have another glass of wine.
