Tongue-in-Cheek Lineup at the Grog Shop

Fri 5/10 @ 9PM

The irony at the Grog Shop will be as dense as San Francisco fog when Captured! By Robots headlines a show there.

The San Francisco-based group is actually one musician, some robots, and assorted other animated characters.  The backstory is that a musician, frustrated with human bandmates, created robots to back him and he became their pawn. The human involved, former Blue Meanies/Skankin’ Pickle bassist Jay Vance, actually has some musical skills though.

So does Sean Tillman, who performs as sleazy, leering lounge lizard Har Mar Superstar. He’s actually an accomplished R&B performer and songwriter for other artists. But it’s the act that’s gained him attention and promotional opportunities.

In this company, one of the two Cleveland opening acts, The Very Knees, will seem positively normal with their garage-y pop/rock. The other, Johnny Habu & the Rebel Salmon, advertise “We make stupid music and do stupid things.” So they’ll likely add to the snark factor in the room.

Admission is $10.
