After playing guitar & singing on the Moody Blues’ first hit, “Go Now,” Denny Laine became the backbone of Paul McCartney’s second most successful band, Wings, for 10 years. You may have heard him sing that one when Wings landed at the Cleveland Coliseum in 1976.
In between, he stayed in a similar baroque rock vein by forming the pioneering Electric String Band with guitarist Trevor Burton and an electrified orchestra. He and Burton formed the band Balls, but it wasn’t until he hooked up with Paul & Linda McCartney that he found huge success.
He co-wrote the hit “Mull of Kintyre,” and enjoyed a rich musical journey singing and playing guitar, keyboards, bass, woodwinds, and co-writing with McCartney.
Opening is the classic rock/Americana act The Cryers from the NY/NJ area, who have performed with The Pete Best Band, Chad & Jeremy, Peter & Gordon and others. The show takes place at The Kent Stage on Sat 6/29 at 7PM.
